Study AI in France from Azerbaijan

The Seine and the Eiffel Tower, Paris

Looking for a master’s in France as a Azerbaijani student? AI2 offers English-taught MSc programmes in applied AI, data science, cybersecurity and IoT near Paris, open to graduates from Azerbaijan, with a State-registered qualification at master’s level (RNCP level 7).

Azerbaijan is one of the 75 countries where Campus France’s Études en France procedure applies, so an AI2 offer is followed by a pre-consular step in Baku before you can book a visa appointment. Here is how that step works, how Azerbaijani degrees map onto AI2’s programmes and what to plan for in manat.

Applying from Azerbaijan: what is specific to you

The Campus France step in Baku

Campus France Azerbaijan, based at the French Institute in Baku since September 2013, makes registration on the Études en France platform compulsory before any student visa application. If you were admitted outside the platform, as happens with a direct application to AI2, you select Je suis accepté(e) and then the Espace Campus France Azerbaïdjan. Prepare scans of:

  • your passport and/or residence permit, plus a recent official-format photo;
  • a one-page academic CV and a working email address;
  • diplomas and transcripts from your last three years of study;
  • AI2’s admission letter or pre-registration document.

After a document check, you pay 250 AZN by bank transfer to the French Institute of Azerbaijan and enter the transfer details on the platform so the team can confirm it. An interview follows, in person or online, in which you present your study plan and explain your choices. The platform then issues your attestation de préinscription, which you need for France-Visas.

Capago and the French Embassy

Visa applications are examined by the French Embassy in Baku and lodged, by appointment, with Capago at the Globus Center, 609 Jafar Jabbarli Street, 14th floor. Capago’s standard service fee is €30 for Azerbaijani citizens (around 62 AZN) and €32 for other nationals, payable in manat in cash or by card; the consular fee is priced in euros and payable in AZN only. Passports come back exclusively by post. France-Visas asks long-stay applicants to book at least one month before departure and accepts files up to six months ahead.

How Azerbaijani degrees fit AI2’s programmes

The ENIC-NARIC network describes the Azerbaijani bakalavr as lasting four to five years (240 to 300 ECTS) and the magistr 1.5 to 2 years, with entrance examinations at each stage set by the State Examination Committee. A school-leaving certificate with mathematics leads to AI2’s Bachelor in Applied AI, and two finished years of a bakalavr to the BSc final-year top-up. A completed bakalavr in a related discipline opens the MSc Applied AI. Since even the shortest bakalavr runs four years, graduates in a related field may also be considered for the 11-month Fast-Track, subject to the academic team’s review.

Azerbaijan has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 2005, so an apostille is the format to use if a French authority asks you to authenticate a document.

IELTS and the flight to Paris

British Council Azerbaijan runs computer-delivered IELTS at the AGA Business Center, 55 Khojali Avenue, Baku, and at Nakhchivan State University, and also offers IELTS Online. Check with AI2 that the version you plan to take is accepted before you book, or read studying in France without IELTS if your degree was taught in English. Paris Aéroport lists AZAL flights between Baku and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Terminal 1.
