Can you study in France without IELTS? Often, yes. Unlike the UK, France does not impose a fixed IELTS score for the student visa: each school sets its own English requirement. At AI2, students whose previous education was taught in English can apply with proof of English-medium education instead of an IELTS or TOEFL certificate.
How AI2 assesses your English
- Required level: B2, the level of an independent user.
- Accepted proof: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 72, or English-medium schooling (for example a Medium of Instruction certificate from your university), confirmed case by case by the admissions team.
- Interview: every applicant has an online interview in English with the academic team, which confirms your level.
Who can usually apply without IELTS?
Students who completed their bachelor’s degree or secondary school in English, which is common in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and other English-speaking countries. Ask your university for a Medium of Instruction certificate before you apply.
