Your route from Mexico in 6 steps
When to start
Campus France Mexico lets you start within the 5 months before classes begin. The consular guide opens appointments from 180 days before classes, while the older FAQ says 3 months, so check the calendar early, because high season fills up. For February 2027, start now.
What the consulate checks at a private school
- Tuition proof. For a private school, your file must include a copy of your tuition payment, in full or as a deposit.
- Funds. €877.50 for each month of stay, about 18,400 MXN, since 1 August 2026. Twelve months comes to €10,530, about 221,000 MXN.
- How to prove it. A guarantor with a letter, ID, income proof and three latest statements; or your own funds in a blocked account or three savings statements. Altered statements count as forgery.
- Housing. A CROUS certificate, a signed lease with deposit proof, a booking of up to 15 days with payment, a host letter or a school commitment letter.
- Passport. Valid 3 months beyond your stay; for a stay over one year, at least 15 months from the start of classes.
An incomplete file means refusal, and missing documents cannot be sent afterwards. You would restart France-Visas, pay again and return to Mexico City, so check every line before you travel.

Apostille: ask admissions whether it wants an apostilled copy. Federal documents go through SEGOB, and state documents through the Secretaría de Gobierno of the issuing state.
If you plan to work or study further in Mexico afterwards, ask SEP (DGAIR) how your title will be treated before you enrol.
Funding
Campus France Mexico says there are no scholarships for a complete licenciatura in France, and most public grants it lists target public universities. So build your budget around your own funds, a guarantor and AI2’s scholarships for excellence and early application: MSc Year 1 can fall from €12,500 to €10,500. Campus France Mexico also lists FUNED, FIDERH and Fundación Beca as financing bodies. Ask each one whether it covers a private school in France.
Is an AI2 qualification recognised?
AI2’s degree programmes prepare RNCP titles at Levels 6 and 7, recognised by the French State. Campus France states that the value of a French diploma is guaranteed by the State for national diplomas, Ministry-approved diplomas and titles registered in the RNCP. You can look up each code on the France Compétences website. See is AI2 recognised and all programmes.
After you graduate
The one-year job-search permit is open to master’s-level graduates, among others, so most bachelor’s graduates who want to stay continue to a master’s first. Any AI2 BSc graduate can progress to MSc Year 1. No school can promise a job or a visa, and AI2 does not. While you study, the student visa allows up to 964 hours of work a year.
