In short: Students in Oman can take English-taught degrees in France without speaking French. Campus France Oman, at the Centre Franco-Omanais in Muscat, advises you, and the long-stay visa is lodged at VFS Global Muscat. The French Embassy and Oman’s higher education ministry co-fund a master’s scholarship for listed programmes. AI2’s MSc starts from €10,500 in Year 1 after scholarship.
France is a realistic choice for Omani students who want applied AI, data science, cybersecurity or IoT in English. This guide covers who helps you in Muscat, the co-funded scholarship, the visa steps at VFS Global and what you would pay at AI2 in 2027.
Who helps you in Muscat?
Campus France Oman is your main contact. It sits at the French Learning Center in Muscat (Centre Franco-Omanais), Villa 207, Al Inshirah Street, by appointment. The team works from Sunday to Thursday, and academic counselling takes place on Thursday afternoons, from 2 pm to 4 pm. You can write to mascate@campusfrance.org.
Is there a scholarship to study in France from Oman?
Yes. The French Embassy in Oman and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation co-fund a Master’s scholarship. The 2025-2026 guide asked students to apply through the Higher Education Admission Center (HEAC) before 9 June 2025, with B2 certified in French or English. English-taught options are the programmes on the list published by HEAC.
The next call is not published here, so check heac.gov.om and ask Campus France Oman. Note that AI2’s own scholarships are separate: they lower your first year of enrolment and are confirmed in your admission letter.
How does the student visa work from Oman?
Campus France Oman’s visa guide sets out these steps:
- Run the visa assistant on France-Visas to confirm what you need.
- Complete the online form, then print the confirmation.
- Book an appointment at VFS Global Muscat, well ahead of your start date.
- Attend with your complete file. VFS Global checks it, collects the fee, takes your biometrics and sends your file to the consulate.
Plan for your passport, photo, admission letter and proof of funds. Residents who are not Omani nationals also show proof of legal residence. AI2 uses €877.50 a month as the funds figure, or €10,530 for twelve months; Campus France Oman’s June 2025 guide still shows €615, so confirm the amount with VFS Global before you apply. A student visa lets you work up to 964 hours a year.
What can you study at AI2 from Oman?
AI2, the Applied Institute of Artificial Intelligence, teaches on its Écouen campus, 22 minutes from Paris Gare du Nord. Will your French qualification count in Oman?
If you need your qualification recognised at home, ask the ministry’s qualification office how your programme is treated before you enrol. Keep your admission letter and programme description ready for that check.
