Planning a cybersecurity master’s in France after your B.Tech, BSc or BCA? Here is what to look for in a programme, who is eligible, what the first year costs in rupees, how the Campus France India procedure works and which cyber careers it opens.
Can Indian students do a master’s in cybersecurity in France in English?
Two families of programmes exist, and Indian applicants meet both on Campus France India.
| Type of programme | Tuition for non-EU students | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Public university master’s | €3,950 a year in 2026-27 (about ₹4.18 lakh) | National master’s degree |
| Private institution programme at master’s level | about €6,000 to €18,000 or more a year (about ₹6.35 to ₹19.06 lakh) | School diploma, often with a professional certification registered in the RNCP |
A certification registered in the RNCP at level 7 is recognised by the French State at master’s level, equivalent to EQF level 7, and each one has a public certification sheet. Our explainer on what an RNCP level 7 qualification means shows how to read it, and our overview of English-taught cybersecurity master’s in France compares programme types in more detail.

Which cyber careers does a French master’s lead to?
Cybersecurity is not one job. ENISA’s European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF), published on 19 September 2022, groups the field into 12 role profiles that European employers and training bodies use as a shared vocabulary.
| ECSF role profile | What to look for in your master’s |
|---|---|
| Cyber Incident Responder (includes SOC analyst) | Monitoring, SIEM, log analysis, incident response playbooks |
| Cyber Threat Intelligence Specialist | OSINT, threat actors and their techniques, intelligence reporting |
| Cybersecurity Architect | Network segmentation, identity and access management, PKI, secure protocols |
| Cybersecurity Risk Manager | Risk analysis methods and security policies |
| Cyber Legal, Policy & Compliance Officer | NIS 2, GDPR and the AI Act in practice |
| Penetration Tester | Offensive labs, vulnerability assessment, reporting |
Demand is driven partly by regulation. The NIS 2 Directive (EU) 2022/2555 covers 18 critical sectors, and Member States had until 17 October 2024 to transpose it, according to the European Commission. Entities in scope must handle incidents and report significant ones within strict deadlines, starting with an early warning within 24 hours. What a detection role involves day to day is explained in how to become a SOC analyst in France, and the hiring market for foreign graduates in cybersecurity jobs in France for international students.
Am I eligible after a B.Tech, BE, BSc or BCA?
Each institution sets its own entry rules, so read the programme page first. These are the questions that decide your entry point.
| Your degree | Usual question | What to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| 3-year BSc or BCA | Usually entry into the first year of a two-year master’s | Transcripts, proof of computing or networking courses |
| 4-year B.Tech or BE | Some institutions admit to a shortened or second-year route | Full syllabus of your degree, to show which subjects you already cover |
| Master’s or MCA already completed | Direct entry to a specialised final year may be possible | Syllabus, CV with projects or work experience |
For English, institutions accept different tests and levels; some accept a medium-of-instruction certificate as supporting evidence. French is often not required for English-taught programmes, but basic French helps with daily life and with French-speaking employers. How Indian degrees map to entry years at AI2 is detailed in our guide to MS in AI in France for Indian students.
How much does a cybersecurity master’s in France cost in rupees?
