Study AI in France from Tanzania

The Seine and the Eiffel Tower, Paris

Looking for a master’s in France as a Tanzanian student? AI2 offers English-taught MSc programmes in applied AI, data science, cybersecurity and IoT near Paris, open to graduates from Tanzania, with a State-registered qualification at master’s level (RNCP level 7).

For Tanzanian applicants the French visa process runs through a private visa centre in Dar es Salaam rather than the embassy counter, and there is no Campus France pre-visa procedure to complete. Below you will find how ACSEE, diplomas and degrees fit AI2’s programmes, what TLScontact asks of you, and AI2 fees converted to shillings.

Applying from Tanzania: passport, visa centre and recognition

Check your passport first

France-Visas reminds Tanzanian applicants that only the East African Community biometric e-passport is accepted for visa applications. If you still hold an older document, renew it before anything else, because the appointment cannot go ahead without it.

TLScontact in Dar es Salaam

Since 7 November 2024, TLScontact has received French visa applications at Viva Towers, ground floor, Shop G6, Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road, Dar es Salaam, while the French Embassy alone takes decisions. For a long-stay visa, book at least one month before departure and allow at least 20 working days for processing. TLScontact charges a basic service fee of €39, collected in local currency, on top of the visa fee.

No Études en France file

Tanzania does not appear on Campus France’s Études en France list, so nothing stands between AI2’s admission letter and your visa request except the France-Visas form itself. For general advice, Campus France has an office at the Alliance française on Ghana Street, Dar es Salaam (campus-france@afdar.com).

ACSEE, diplomas and degrees

  • ACSEE with mathematics is the entry ticket to the first year of the Applied AI Bachelor.
  • An HND or two years of higher education in computing or engineering is the way into the BSc final year.
  • A related bachelor’s degree qualifies you for the MSc in Data Science, Cybersecurity or IoT.
  • Already an engineer, or holding a master’s? The 11-month Fast-Track is designed for you, as it is for anyone with four years of related study.

To use a foreign degree for work or further study in Tanzania, it must be recognised by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). Requests go through TCU’s online Foreign Award Assessment System (FAAS).

Working back from your start date

Visa files cannot be lodged more than six months before departure, and France-Visas suggests allowing at least 20 working days. In practice, a September student should hold the AI2 admission letter by spring and book a Dar es Salaam slot early in the summer; for the January Fast-Track, aim for an appointment in October or November. Students in neighbouring countries can compare routes in our Kenya and Uganda guides.
