Which scholarships can Egyptian students apply for in 2027?

Campus France Egypte, a department of the Institut français d’Égypte (IFE), lists French government, regional, institutional and European funding. The table keeps the programmes we could read on official pages on 28 October 2026, with their status that day.

The Eiffel Excellence scholarship: France’s flagship award, filed by your school

Campus France’s page for the 2027 session states that the call is open. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs created the programme so that French higher education institutions can attract top international students to their master’s and PhD programmes, and it encourages master’s applicants up to 29 years old. Campus France must receive files from schools by 6 January 2027; results come from 12 April 2027.

What it pays

A monthly allowance of €1,200 at master’s level (from January 2026), about EGP 75,039, plus international and domestic travel, insurance, help with housing and cultural activities. Tuition is not covered, but French government scholarship holders are exempt from tuition for national diplomas in public institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education.

How long

Up to 12 months for a Master 2, 24 months for a Master 1 and 36 months for an engineering degree. Studies must begin between 1 September and 30 November of the award year, and the start date cannot be postponed.

Which fields

Seven areas: biology and health, ecological transition, mathematics and digital, engineering sciences, history and French language and civilisation, law and political science, economics and management.

Who files

Only French institutions. Campus France declares applications sent directly by students or by foreign institutions ineligible, and a school that nominates you commits to enrolling you if you win.

The date that matters to you comes earlier than 6 January: each school selects its candidates on its own internal calendar before filing them. Campus France Egypte adds that applications can also come through French institutions’ partners in Egypt under cooperation agreements, and that Egyptian students in the French-speaking excellence sections (double-degree programmes) of Egyptian universities receive Eiffel scholarships every year.

One rule to know before you plan work-study: Eiffel benefits stop automatically if the holder signs an apprenticeship or professional training contract.

Rifaa Al Tahtawi: the master’s scholarship of the Institut français d’Égypte

This is the French government’s own master’s grant for Egyptians, managed in Cairo by the IFE, the cultural operator of the French Embassy in Egypt.

According to the IFE scholarships page, the grant funds Master 2 programmes that include compulsory courses in France. A compulsory internship in the official programme can be covered for its minimum length, never on its own. It lasts 10 months at most, courses and internship included, at €860 a month, about EGP 53,778. Campus France Egypte adds a waiver of registration fees in public institutions (specific fees excluded); its English page also mentions a reserved room in a student residence and student social security cover. Applications go through an online form on the IFE page.

Status on 28 October 2026: the IFE page still displays the 2025-2026 academic year, with applications open until 15 February 2025. No call for 2026-2027 or 2027-2028 was published there when we checked, and the page does not say when the next one opens. Follow the IFE scholarships page or write to bourses@ifegypte.com before you build a plan around it.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters: full scholarships across several countries

Campus France Egypte names the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters as the most popular Erasmus+ programmes in Egypt. The European Commission’s page sets out how they work.

The format

At least three institutions in at least three countries, one to two academic years (60, 90 or 120 ECTS), a joint or multiple degree.

The scholarship

Masters may offer full scholarships to the best-ranked students worldwide, covering participation costs and contributing to travel, visa and a living allowance.

The calendar

You apply directly to the institution running the programme. In most cases applications are submitted between October and January for courses starting the following academic year.

The entry rule

A bachelor’s degree, or being in the final year and graduating before the master’s starts.

Several French institutions take part, so part of your degree may take place in France. Competition is worldwide: treat Erasmus Mundus as one application among several.

Egyptian government missions to France: a doctoral route for now

Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research runs a France programme through its Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector (Central Administration for Missions), together with the French Embassy in Cairo.

Ain Shams University’s announcement of 18 June 2025 describes it: a memorandum signed during President Macron’s visit in April 2025 provides 100 fully funded scholarships over five years, 20 a year, with priority for fields such as artificial intelligence, computing, robotics and cybersecurity. Holders receive French Government Scholarship Holder status and €695 a month from France, while Egypt contributes €1,075 a month per student.

Candidates had to be Egyptian, 35 or younger, assistant lecturers or research assistants with a master’s, registered for a doctorate in Egypt for three years at most. Applications ran from 17 June to 15 July 2025 on the ministry portal phdfrance.mohesr.gov.eg. We found no official Egyptian page describing a government mission for a master’s in France.

University, regional and other scholarships

School scholarships

Campus France Egypte notes that some institutions fund foreign students on excellence or social criteria, often as a tuition exemption or reduction. French regions and towns also fund students on their territory.

Campus Bourses

Campus France’s search engine of funding from states, regions, companies, foundations and schools, filtered by nationality, field and level.

For researchers

The French Embassy and Egypt’s STDF opened a 2027 postdoctoral call: a six-month stay in a French laboratory, at least €1,850 a month, flights and insurance, for Egyptians under 45 whose PhD is under 10 years old. Deadline: 14 January 2027.

Campus France Egypte’s FAQ adds that French government scholarship applications are filed at the Institut français d’Égypte, go to high-level students (master’s or PhD) and follow the cooperation programmes agreed between France and Egypt.

AI2’s international scholarship: assessed with your application

AI2, the Applied Institute of Artificial Intelligence, teaches applied AI, data science, cybersecurity and IoT 100% in English at the Hub Nikola Tesla in Écouen, 22 minutes from Paris Gare du Nord by Transilien line H. Its scholarship has no separate form, no extra fee and no campaign deadline of its own.

Every international candidate, Bachelor or MSc, is assessed automatically. The award combines criteria such as excellence (your academic record and admission interview), early application, applying through a partner channel and paying the academic year in full. The amount is written in your admission letter, applies to the first year of enrolment, is not transferable and cannot be combined with other discounts; being assessed does not guarantee an award. The details are on the AI2 scholarships page.

Tuition: AI2 tuition fees and scholarships pages, read 28 October 2026. EGP at the Central Bank of Egypt average market sell rate of 62.5322 per euro, 28 October 2026. The admission letter prevails.

For a four-year Egyptian bachelor’s, the usual AI2 route is the 18-month MSc direct entry: 12 months taught, then a 6-month internship, with intakes in February, May and September 2027. Each MSc awards the AI2 diploma and prepares a professional certification recognised by the French State, registered in the RNCP at level 7, master’s level (EQF 7): RNCP39978 for Data Science and Cybersecurity, RNCP40554 for IoT, both certified by DATAKOO, AI2’s parent company. The Fast-Track has its own €1,500 scholarship for applications before 15 November 2026, which cannot be combined with other AI2 discounts. Every fee and the payment schedule are on AI2 tuition fees 2027.

The AI2 assessment happens whenever you apply, for any of the three intakes. Programme choice by degree is covered in Study AI in France from Egypt, and how French schools read Egyptian grades in Masters in France for Egyptian students.

How does a scholarship count for the visa proof of funds?

Service-Public sets the student resources floor at €877.50 a month: about EGP 54,872 at the CBE rate of 28 October 2026, or EGP 658,464 for twelve months. Its list of accepted proofs treats scholarships differently.

Rifaa Al TahtawiProof of French government scholarship holder status€860 a month is €17.50 below the floor and lasts 10 months at most. Ask Campus France Egypte whether a top-up is expected, and keep family evidence ready.

Scholarship from an Egyptian bodyAn attestation from the paying body stating the amount and durationCounted for the amount and the months stated.
Tuition scholarship or discount (AI2, university waiver)Your admission letter shows the reduced tuitionNo. It lowers tuition but is not living money: show €877.50 a month from your own account or a sponsor.

Two rules follow. First, a tuition scholarship lowers the budget but does not pass the resources test. Take a four-year bachelor’s holder on the AI2 18-month MSc after scholarship: €11,300 of tuition plus €10,530 of living resources for twelve months makes €21,830, about EGP 1,365,078, before visa and service fees. Second, when a scholarship covers only part of the floor or part of the year, add a sponsor: Service-Public accepts several resources if each one is documented, for example a parent’s identity document with bank evidence of regular transfers.

The documents, amounts in other currencies and common refusal causes are in proof of funds for a France student visa, the Egyptian procedure in France student visa from Egypt, and the funding questions asked at the Campus France Egypte interview in Campus France interview questions.
