Holding, or about to hold, a bachelor’s from an Egyptian university? A master’s in France is within reach, often in English and without French. The work lies in three things: how French schools read your degree and grades, the Campus France Egypte procedure that comes before any visa, and a budget set in euros that your family pays in pounds.
Can you do a master’s in France with an Egyptian bachelor’s degree?
Yes, and there is no single national equivalence to obtain first. Campus France Egypte is clear on the principle: each French institution sets its own admission criteria according to your background and the programme, and only the host institution can accept or refuse you.
Length matters more than the name of the degree. Nuffic, the Dutch ENIC-NARIC centre, describes the Egyptian university bachelor’s as usually four years long, five for some technical programmes; Higher Institute bachelor’s degrees usually take four years too. Some schools may credit a four-year degree with more than the first master’s year, as the AI2 table below shows. A few also ask for an ENIC-NARIC attestation, which Campus France Egypte notes is not an equivalence in itself.
Then comes the platform. Egyptians, and non-Schengen nationals living in Egypt, use Études en France, run by Campus France, for any study stay of 90 days or more. It has two doors:
| Candidature (“I am a candidate”) | Pre-consular (“Je suis accepté”) | |
|---|---|---|
| For whom | Programmes of institutions connected to Campus France, chosen on the platform | Anyone already admitted outside the platform, by letter or email |
| Choices | Up to 7 programmes at Licence 2, Licence 3 or master’s level | The programme that admitted you |
| Calendar | Opened 1 October 2026; master’s files due by 15 January 2027 for 2027 to 2028 | From your pre-registration, at the earliest 6 months and at the latest 4 weeks before departure |
| Fee | EGP 4,800, before the interview | EGP 2,400, one payment per account and per year |
| Interview | At Campus France Egypte, Cairo or Alexandria | Pre-consular interview, one per account and per year |
The 15 January 2027 deadline you may have seen concerns only the candidature door. A student admitted directly by a school follows the pre-consular calendar instead.
How are Egyptian grades such as “Very Good” and “Good” read?
There is no official conversion table. Nuffic explains that Egyptian institutions use different grading systems, that they can vary by faculty, and that the scale is often printed on the back of the transcript. In the one example it gives, a single faculty’s scale, “Very good” covers 72 to 84%; other faculties draw the lines elsewhere. We found no French official source converting Egyptian descriptors into French marks, so be wary of anyone quoting one.
French schools therefore read the transcript as a whole: subjects, percentages, descriptor and trend. Two habits help:
Scan both sides
Explain a weak year
At AI2, admissions reviews your official transcripts, then holds an online interview on your projects, motivation and English before it confirms your entry year in writing. No GRE or GMAT is asked.
Translation, legalisation and English: the paperwork from Egypt
Start these while you wait for your admission decisions: they depend on offices in Egypt, not on the school.
Arabic documents need a sworn translation
Legalisation, when a French authority asks
English test or medium of instruction
The rest of the file
Campus France Egypte’s checklists ask for translations, not legalisation: legalise when a school, the consulate or a French administration asks. No test score yet? Read how to study in France without IELTS.
Campus France Egypte, Études en France and the visa, step by step
Campus France Egypte is a department of the Institut français d’Égypte, attached to the French Embassy, with offices at the Institut in Mounira, Cairo, and at 30 rue Nabi Daniel, Alexandria, open Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 to 17:00, by appointment. Its brochure and the France-Visas page for Egypt give this order:
- 1Get the admission letterFor a paper acceptance, the letter must mention the start date, the level, the programme and its language of teaching.
- 2Open a “Je suis accepté” fileOn Études en France, select the paper acceptance received outside the platform, then “I am in another situation” and “Other”, describe the programme, and upload the letter.
- 3Pay EGP 2,400 and attend the interviewCampus France Egypte checks the file, then sends the payment details and a pre-consular interview notice. Payment is by online bank transfer.
- 4Print the attestation, get your CEF numberPrint the “attestation d’acceptation” from Part 3 of your file. France-Visas adds that students need their provisional registration from the Institut français, which carries the CEF number.
- 5Book TLScontactOnly after the Campus France step. TLScontact receives files in Cairo (Sheikh Zayed City), East Cairo (New Cairo), Alexandria and Hurghada; its service fee is set in euros and paid in cash in pounds.
- 6Wait for the consulateThe Consulate General of France in Cairo alone decides and needs about ten days at least once a file is complete, so France-Visas advises an appointment at least two months before departure, never more than six months before.
- 7Validate on arrivalValidate the student visa (VLS-TS) online within three months and pay the €100 tax, according to Service-Public.
TLScontact is the usual route but not the only one: France-Visas notes that applicants may also lodge at the Consulate General in Cairo, by appointment only. Every document of the embassy file is detailed in our France student visa from Egypt guide.

What does a master’s in France cost in Egyptian pounds?
Converted at the Central Bank of Egypt’s official rate for 27 October 2026, the latest published when we checked: EGP 62.6558 per euro, the sell rate, which is the side that applies when you buy euros. The pound moves; the euro figures are the ones that count.
| Item | EUR | EGP (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| AI2 MSc Year 1, after the AI2 scholarship (standard €12,500) | from €10,500 | about EGP 658,000 |
| AI2 MSc direct entry, 18 months, after scholarship (standard €13,000) | from €11,300 | about EGP 708,000 |
| Same, IoT specialisation | from €11,800 | about EGP 739,000 |
| Fast-Track February 2027, applications before 15 November 2026 | €11,000 | about EGP 689,000 |
| Visa resources, one month | €877.50 | about EGP 54,980 |
| Visa resources, twelve months | €10,530 | about EGP 660,000 |
| Living costs in the Paris region, AI2 estimate, rent included | €900 to €1,700 a month | about EGP 56,000 to 107,000 a month |
| VLS-TS validation tax on arrival | €100 | about EGP 6,300 |
| Campus France Egypte pre-consular fee | paid in pounds | EGP 2,400 |
A worked example: a four-year bachelor’s holder on the 18-month MSc after scholarship, showing twelve months of resources, needs €11,300 plus €10,530, so €21,830, about EGP 1.37 million, before visa and service fees. On the two-year MSc, the scholarship applies to the first year and the second year’s amount is stated in your admission letter.
The visa minimum, €877.50 a month since 1 August 2026, can be shown through your own bank certificate, a sponsor’s identity and bank evidence, or a scholarship letter: see proof of funds for a France student visa. Fees and payment steps are on AI2 tuition fees 2027, and every international candidate is assessed automatically for the conditional AI2 scholarship.
A timeline for the February, May and September 2027 intakes
Built backwards from the two official windows: Campus France Egypte, from 6 months to 4 weeks before departure, and France-Visas, which advises a TLScontact appointment at least two months before departure. Exact class dates are in your admission letter.
| Intake | AI2 dates | Campus France Egypte file | Aim for TLScontact by |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 2027 | Fast-Track rate until 15 November 2026; priority deadline and complete visa file 30 November 2026; deposit 15 December 2026 | Open it the day your letter arrives: the window is already open | Early December 2026 |
| May 2027 | Dates sent on request by admissions | From about November 2026 for a late-April departure | Late February 2027 |
| September 2027 | Dates sent on request by admissions | From about March 2027 for a late-August departure | Late June 2027 |
February is tight from today, 28 October 2026, but workable for a complete file: the AI2 letter, then the pre-consular file, the interview and TLScontact all fit in November and early December. If it is not workable for you, May and September keep the same programmes. Fast-Track exists only in February.

What happens after your master’s?
Service-Public (verified 1 June 2026) describes a one-year, non-renewable residence card “recherche d’emploi ou création d’entreprise” for non-EU graduates who obtained, in the last twelve months, a licence professionnelle, a Mastère Spécialisé, a CGE-labelled MSc or another diploma at least equivalent to a master’s. You apply at your préfecture in the two months before your student card expires. During that year you can take a job linked to your studies, then move to an employee permit or a Talent card.
AI2 states in its visa guidance that master-level graduates can stay 12 months to look for a job, and its team guides graduates through the file under the rules in force at graduation; as for every applicant, the préfecture examines the diploma you present. Salary thresholds and the order of the steps are in working in France after graduation.

Frequently asked questions
Can I do a master’s in France with an Egyptian bachelor’s degree?
Yes. Each French institution sets its own admission criteria, and a four-year Egyptian bachelor’s is the profile most master’s programmes expect. At AI2, a four- or five-year degree usually leads to the 18-month MSc direct entry, confirmed after a transcript review.
How much does a master’s in France cost for an Egyptian student in EGP?
At AI2, the 18-month MSc starts from €11,300 after scholarship, about EGP 708,000 at the Central Bank of Egypt rate of 27 October 2026. Add at least €10,530 of visa resources for twelve months, about EGP 660,000.
How much is the Campus France Egypte fee?
EGP 2,400 for the pre-consular “Je suis accepté” file and EGP 4,800 for the candidature route, according to the Campus France Egypte brochure for 2027 to 2028. Both are paid by online bank transfer.
Do I need IELTS to study in France from Egypt?
AI2 asks for B2 English, such as IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 72, and waives the test after English-medium studies. Campus France Egypte lists IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC for English-taught programmes, so ask it whether a medium-of-instruction certificate is enough.
Do my Egyptian certificates need legalisation?
Campus France Egypte asks for documents in French or English or a sworn translation. When a French authority asks for legalisation, the French consulate explains that the document is first legalised by the Egyptian authority, then at the consulate, by free online appointment.
How are “Very Good” and “Good” grades converted in France?
No official French conversion exists. Nuffic notes that Egyptian grading scales vary by institution and faculty and are often printed on the back of the transcript, so upload both sides. Schools, including AI2, review the full transcript.
Does the 15 January 2027 Campus France deadline apply to me?
Only if you apply through the Études en France candidature route to connected institutions. If a school admits you directly, you follow the pre-consular route, between six months and four weeks before departure.
Can I still start in February 2027?
Yes, if you move now. AI2’s priority deadline and complete visa file date are 30 November 2026 and the deposit is due by 15 December 2026, and France-Visas advises a TLScontact appointment at least two months before departure. May and September 2027 are the alternatives.
