Students in Mumbai have most of the French application chain within the city limits: a Consulate General of France, a Campus France desk in Churchgate and a VFS Global visa centre in Bandra Kurla Complex. This guide covers what is particular to applying from Mumbai, from the institutions you may be graduating from to the flight out of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
AI2 – Applied Institute of Artificial Intelligence is an applied AI school on the Écouen campus, 22 minutes from Paris Gare du Nord. Its programmes are taught in English and prepare qualifications registered by the French State with France Compétences (RNCP) at level 6 (bachelor’s level) and level 7 (master’s level).
Applying from Mumbai: what is specific to you
Your Campus France desk in Churchgate
Campus France India runs its Mumbai desk from the Alliance Française de Bombay, Churchgate Chambers, 5 New Marine Lines, Churchgate. Two managers share the city: one handles Mumbai and North Maharashtra (mumbai@india-campusfrance.org), the other Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh (mumbai2@india-campusfrance.org), because the former Bhopal office has closed and its applicants are now served from here. Counselling sessions are free, so it is worth booking one before you open your Études en France file.
Biometrics at Bandra Kurla Complex
VFS Global receives French visa applications at Trade Centre, First Floor, G Block, Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra (East), from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 16:00, strictly by appointment. The decision is then taken by the Consulate General of France in Mumbai, whose district covers Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, plus Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The document checklist is the same everywhere in India and is explained in our France student visa from India guide.
Mumbai degrees and the AI2 route that fits
Many Mumbai applicants hold a four-year B.Tech or B.E., for example from IIT Bombay in Powai or the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in Matunga. An engineering degree in computing or a related branch meets the entry rule for the 11-month Fast-Track, which starts in January, as well as for the MSc Applied AI. A three-year B.Sc in computer science, IT, mathematics or statistics points to the MSc. If you left a degree after two years, the BSc final year (top-up) is the one to look at. Fees and options are listed on all programmes.
| Route | EUR | INR (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| MSc Applied AI, per year after the AI2 scholarship | from €10,500 | about ₹11.2 lakh |
| 11-month Fast-Track, whole programme | €11,000 | about ₹11.7 lakh |
Flying from Mumbai to Paris
Air France states on its India website that it runs non-stop flights from Mumbai to Paris-Charles de Gaulle. For the airport, the airline names Vile Parle and Andheri as the nearest railway stations to Terminals 1 and 2, and notes that BEST bus 35 runs from Vile Parle station to the international terminal in about 20 minutes. Before any of that, admission itself happens remotely: an online application, then an online interview with the academic team, so nothing in the AI2 part requires a trip. Students from Pune can use the same non-stop service; our Pune guide covers their local offices.
