Study in France from Vietnam: Costs in VND, Visa and Steps (2027)

The Seine and the Eiffel Tower, Paris
Vietnam · 2027 guide

From Hanoi, Đà Nẵng or Ho Chi Minh City to an English-taught degree near Paris. This guide gives the full cost in dong, the Campus France steps, the visa timeline and what you can do after your degree. For the programmes themselves, see our AI programmes for Vietnam.

Costs in VNDCampus France VietnamTLScontact visaAfter your degree
In short: you need an AI2 admission letter, an Études en France file (VND 6,600,000), an interview, then a long-stay visa at TLScontact. Budget about VND 267 million a year for Bachelor tuition or VND 312 million for MSc Year 1 after scholarship, and show at least €877.50 a month for living costs.

⚠️ Important: no deposit, no enrolment certificate

AI2 issues your enrolment certificate only after your €5,000 deposit is paid. Campus France and the consulate ask for this certificate: without the deposit, your Études en France file and your visa application cannot go ahead.

Applying to AI2 is free: there is no application fee. If your visa or your Campus France file is officially refused, the deposit is refunded minus €300 of administrative fees, on presentation of the refusal letter. Pay only by the instructions in your AI2 documents, never to a personal account.

2. Open your Études en France file

With your admission letter, choose “Je suis accepté” at etudesenfrance.diplomatie.gouv.fr. Pay nothing until Campus France emails you a payment request.

3. Pass the Campus France interview

It lasts 20 to 30 minutes, in person in Hanoi, Đà Nẵng or Ho Chi Minh City, and in English for an English-taught course. Read our Campus France interview questions first.

4. Prepare your translations

Vietnamese-only documents need a certified translation by the Justice Division (Phòng Tư pháp), a notary or the Institut français. Bilingual or English documents do not.

5. Lodge your visa at TLScontact

Use Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, whichever suits you. Lodge three months to three weeks before departure and allow up to two months. Be wary of agencies selling visa help: the official steps are public. The visa decision belongs to the French authorities.

6. Arrive and validate your visa

Validate your long-stay visa online within three months of arrival, with the €100 tax. Our Life in France guide covers housing, transport and health.

Which intake should you choose?

AI2’s 2027 intakes are February, May and September. If you have not started your Campus France file, May or September is usually more realistic than February. The Fast-Track starts in February only.

Scholarships

AI2’s scholarship can lower MSc Year 1 tuition from €12,500 to €10,500. See our scholarships page. Campus France Vietnam also lists the France Excellence Eiffel 2027 call, open until 6 January 2027: check the eligibility rules before counting on it.

Working and staying after your degree

During your studies, you can work up to 964 hours a year. After a master’s-level degree, you can request a 12-month job-search or business-creation card, not renewable. Read about the next steps in working in France after graduation. French residence also lets you visit other Schengen countries for short stays, up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to study in France from Vietnam?

At AI2, tuition is €9,000 a year for the Bachelor, about VND 267 million, and €12,500 for MSc Year 1, about VND 371 million, or from €10,500 with a scholarship. Add the Études en France fee of VND 6,600,000, the visa costs and living expenses. You must show at least €877.50 a month.

Do Vietnamese students need Campus France?

Yes. Every student visa file for France starts on Études en France with Campus France Vietnam. With an AI2 admission letter, you follow the “Je suis accepté” route, then attend an interview.

How much is the Études en France fee in Vietnam?

VND 6,600,000 since 1 October 2026, about €220. Pay only after Campus France emails you a payment request, because a fee paid by mistake is not refunded.

Can I study in France in English from Vietnam?

Yes. AI2’s programmes are taught 100% in English, and the Campus France interview for an English-taught course is held in English. You need English at B2 level, for example IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 72, or proof of English-medium schooling.

Where do I apply for the French student visa in Vietnam?

At TLScontact, in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, whichever you prefer. Lodge your file between three months and three weeks before departure, and allow up to two months for processing.

Can Vietnamese students work in France?

Yes. A student visa allows 964 hours of work a year without a separate work authorisation. This helps with living costs, but it should not be your main source of funds.

Can I stay in France after graduating?

Master’s-level graduates can request a 12-month job-search or business-creation card, not renewable, then move to an employee, Talent or EU Blue Card if they meet the conditions. Check that your diploma qualifies. A job or a permit is never guaranteed.
