Applying from Ghana: what is specific to you

Matching Ghanaian qualifications to AI2

  • WASSCE with mathematics: the Bachelor in Applied AI, three years to RNCP level 6.
  • HND from a technical university, for example in computer science: the BSc final year, one year to an RNCP level 6 qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computing, engineering, mathematics or statistics: the MSc Applied AI. A master’s, an engineering degree or four years of related higher education can also open the 11-month Fast-Track.

Tertiary institutions in Ghana are accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), which publishes lists of accredited and unaccredited institutions and runs a credential evaluation service. Checking that your college is on the accredited list before applying avoids questions later in the document review. Programme details are on all programmes.

Études en France is compulsory

Ghana is on Campus France’s list of Études en France countries. Campus France Ghana states that residents admitted to a French institution, including those admitted outside the platform, must create an Études en France file before the visa. Once your file is checked, you pay a GHS 700 fee into the Institut français du Ghana account at Société Générale Ghana, upload the receipt and book a pre-consular interview. Campus France Ghana describes its interview as lasting 25 to 30 minutes and covering your education, your study project and your career plans.

Two offices handle the procedure, one in Accra and one at KNUST in Kumasi. If your documents are already in English and the programme is taught in English, Campus France Ghana says no translation is needed.

One visa centre for the whole country

France-Visas states that all visa applications in Ghana, except those on diplomatic and service passports, go to the VFS Global centre at One Airport Square in Accra, and are examined by the visa section of the French Embassy in Accra. Applicants from Kumasi, Tamale or Takoradi therefore travel to Accra for biometrics; addresses and hours are in our Accra guide.
