Looking for a master’s in France as a Sri Lankan student? AI2 offers English-taught MSc programmes in applied AI, data science, cybersecurity and IoT near Paris, open to graduates from Sri Lanka, with a State-registered qualification at master’s level (RNCP level 7).
Sri Lanka is not among the countries covered by Campus France’s Études en France procedure, so the route to AI2 is shorter than from much of South Asia: you apply to the school directly, then lodge your visa with VFS Global in Colombo. This guide shows how A-levels, HNDs and SLQF degrees fit AI2’s programmes and what the fees mean in rupees.
AI2 – Applied Institute of Artificial Intelligence is an applied AI school on the Écouen campus, 22 minutes from Paris Gare du Nord. Its programmes are taught in English and lead to French qualifications registered at bachelor’s and master’s level.
Applying from Sri Lanka: what is specific to you
Your qualification and the matching programme
- GCE Advanced Level, conducted by the Department of Examinations: entry to the Bachelor in Applied AI.
- A Higher National Diploma, such as SLIATE’s HND in Information Technology (HNDIT): the BSc final year (top-up), which admits HND holders.
- A three-year general bachelor’s (SLQF level 5, at least 90 credits) in a related subject: the MSc Applied AI.
- A four-year honours bachelor’s (SLQF level 6, at least 120 credits): the MSc, or the 11-month Fast-Track, which considers four years of related higher education.
No Études en France step
Campus France’s official list of countries covered by Études en France does not include Sri Lanka. For studies beyond the first year of a bachelor’s, Campus France Sri Lanka advises contacting the institution directly and, once admitted, applying for the visa. Its team can still give guidance at colombo@campusfrance.org.
The visa at VFS Global, Colombo 09
Visa decisions are taken by the Embassy of France in Colombo, and VFS Global is its exclusive provider for receiving applicants, at 4th floor, No. 675, Dr. Danister De Silva Mawatha, Colombo 09. The centre works by appointment, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 16:00, for Sri Lankan and Maldivian nationals and for residents of both countries. France-Visas states that applications are normally processed within 15 calendar days of a complete file, extendable up to 60 days if checks or extra documents are needed. VFS charges €19.48 per application, collected in rupees at the embassy’s consular rate.
English tests
The British Council lists computer-delivered IELTS centres in Colombo, Kandy and other towns, including Jaffna, Matara and Kurunegala. If your schooling or degree was taught in English, AI2 may accept that instead: see study in France without IELTS.

How to come to France from Sri Lanka: the steps
Apply to AI2 online and attend an interview with the academic team.
Receive your admission letter.
Apply for the long-stay student visa (VLS-TS) on France-Visas: Sri Lanka is not covered by the Études en France procedure, so you book your appointment directly at the French visa application centre.
Show proof of at least €877.50 a month of resources and your admission letter at the appointment.
Arrive on the Écouen campus near Paris and validate your visa online on the ANEF portal within three months.
